Japanese History
The main historic events in modern Japanese history revolve around World War II and Japan’s presence in it. Japan had recently defeated China in 1894, and had much success in the years between the wars in gaining control and expanding their nation. However, the pride must have gotten to them because Japan was hit hard by the U.S. after they attacked Pearl Harbor in 1941. The U.S. quickly declared war and after a series of attacks, the main one being the attack on Hiroshima, Japan was defeated and was forced into a new constitution and government set up. Since the war, Japan has again flourished and risen, but no one in Japan is safe or susceptible to the vigorous earthquakes Japan is known to have experienced. Both earthquakes in 1923 and 2011, though there were many in between, took thousands of Japanese lives and Japanese must be ready for more trials, whether they be natural or political.
